The story begins seven years before the events of Final Fantasy VII (1997) and follows the adventures of Zack Fair, a young and ambitious soldier of the Shinra. He is entrusted with the mission of finding a 1st class soldier called Rhapsodos genes.
But during his adventure, he discovers the secret claims of the experiences carried out by the Shinra and the monsters they have created. The game includes various characters from the Final Fantasy VII franchise, such as Cloud, Séphiroth, and Aerith, among others.
