Deezer overwhelmed: AI generates 40,000 new tracks per day

AI has infiltrated everywhere and even in the world of music. On the sites of streamingit is now not uncommon to come across music 100% made with artificial intelligence.

On Deezerit’s a real scourge: it is estimated that AI generates 40,000 new titles every day. These “artists” are entirely artificial, and on the platform, music created by AI is multiplying rapidly.

Concretely, while in images it is still possible to distinguish the true from the false, in music, it becomes impossible to discern a human from a robot. In any case, this is what this Ipsos survey carried out among 9,000 international listeners reveals.

Impossible to recognize an AI

The researchers made participants listen to three rock songs without telling them where they came from: two had been generated by artificial intelligence (The Velvet Sundownand Suno software) and the third came from the British group Juicy Lucy, dating from 1970.

Ultimately, 97% of participants “were unable to differentiate between music generated entirely by AI and human music“. Then, half said they were uncomfortable with the situation.

The same proportion fear that AI will standardize music, while 64% fear a loss of creativity. However, since these listeners were unable to distinguish a piece generated by AI From a human perspective, this risk ultimately seems less obvious.

On the other hand, 46% believe that AI can also help them discover new songs they like.

Deezer and its AI policy

In January 2025, Deezer indicated that one in ten titles published each day on its platform was generated by AI. Ten months later, this figure has exploded to 40,000 daily tracks, representing 34% of additions, even if their listening share remains low.

Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Deezer, explains that these results show that listeners care about music and want to know whether a song is created by a human or by an AI, and specifies that Deezer remains to date the only platform to systematically flag tracks entirely generated by AI to inform its users.
