This type of objective is aimed at photographers as well as videographers who love large plans, for example for landscape or report. We can even consider its use for architecture and astrophotography. It is able to cover the 24×36 mm sensor format and can therefore also accompany a hybrid equipped with an APS-C sensor. In this case, it turns into an equivalent 24-45 mm taking into account a conversion coefficient of 1.5x.

Of course, the constant opening F/2.8 is a real advantage for playing with the effects of depth of field and bokeh, maintaining its exposure trio regardless of the focal length used or working by hand in low light conditions.
Among the new features of this second generation, we can highlight a change in the focal range, which goes from 17-28 mm to 16-30 mm, therefore more versatile. There is a new optical formula composed of 16 lenses divided into 12 groups with 3 aspirial lenses, 2 LD glasses and 1 XLD glass with low dispersion. The objective is also equipped with an Autofocus VXD motorization, faster and specifies that the previous RXD. Ergonomic level, Tamron has implemented a customizable button.

First opinion
The arrival of this Tamron 16-30mm F2.8 DI III VXD G2 is good news for users of Sony hybrids, but especially Nikon. This objective is obviously an interesting alternative to the native models offered directly by Sony and Nikon and much more expensive. We think for example of Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM II offered around 2600 €, or even at Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 g Sold around 1300 €. At Nikon, we think of Nikkor Z 14-24mm F2.8 s offered around 2650 €, or at Nikkor Z 17-28mm F2.8 marketed at around € 1350.
This new tamron also competes in Sony E mount with the model Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN | Art (€ 1,500), or even the 16-28mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary (€ 940). In Sony frame, there is also the Samyang x Schneider-Kreuznach AF 14-24mm F2.8 Fe Sold at some € 1,200. In short, there is a choice!
