Disney+ will soon make its star universe disappear

Between Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and National Geographic, Star is undoubtedly the least identified and least popular universe Disney+. The streaming platform seems to have understood this since it is about to make it disappear worldwide, and therefore in France, to replace it with the Hulu tile. We explain to you.

Bye bye star, hello hulu

This information was unveiled this Wednesday, when the Q3 (third quarter) is announced in the Walt Disney Company financial results. The star tile will thus disappear in the fall of 2025, with the aim of strengthening the integration of the Hulu platform in Disney+.

Launched in February 2021 on Disney+, the Star Space so far brought together the productions (films, series and documentaries) of the Disney group subsidiaries such as 20th Century Studios, Touchstone Pictures, Searchlight Pictures, and American channels ABC, FX and therefore Hulu.

Star also enabled Disney+ to offer more adult and mature content at the heart of its predominantly family offer: series Atlanta,, Shōgun,, Dopesick And Paradise or franchises Alien And Die Hardbetween many others.

This development arrives when Disney has just acquired Hulu completely for $ 9 billion, and therefore wishes to finish its progressive integration in Disney+ by 2026.

The Hulu streaming service was launched in 2007 and now has more than 55 million subscribers worldwide. It is a brand perfectly identified in the United States, but much less in the rest of the world and in France. Star’s content will therefore be found under this new Hulu tile, without much change for the user.

Replacing the star universe with that of Hulu will above all make it possible to highlight a stronger brand to non-American subscribers of the platform. The final objective is (in the United States) to merge the separate Hulu and Disney+ services in one and the same application next year.

In addition to this announcement, Disney has confirmed that its streaming platform will experience changes in the future:

“We are already working on the continuous improvement of our technology and, in the coming months, we will implement many improvements within the Disney+application, in particular new interesting features and a more personalized home page”said the press release.

Appointment is therefore made this fall to see how this Hulu space will arrive in Disney+. As a reminder, Continuous channels Star Wars and Marvel must also appear on the platform in France by the end of the year. There is still nothing official, but these developments may bring about a new evolution of the prices … to follow.
