Do you have any doubts about the legitimacy of a message? Google knows how to identify scams for you
Like AI-generated images and videos, at the end of 2025 it can be difficult to tell the difference between a real message and a scam. In the latter case, the people behind fraudulent emails or SMS messages are making increasing efforts to pass off their messages as official communication. If applying the usual rules of caution (checking the sending email address, paying attention to spelling and formatting, or even previewing links before clicking on them) is not enough to completely clarify a situation, Google comes to the rescue.
Google helps you identify scams
The firm offers two new solutions based, unsurprisingly, on AI and information found online. These are currently being deployed and will only appear when “our systems will have great confidence in the quality of the response”.

The first is to use its Circle to Search feature. On an Android smartphone, simply hold the home button and then circle the suspected text to receive a textual analysis and indication of a potential scam. This analysis also provides common sense advice, such as not revealing personal information.

The second solution, which this time will also apply to users under iOS, offers the same type of textual analysis, but this time is found in the Google application. After taking a screenshot of the suspicious message, simply open it in Google Lens (via the camera icon in the search box) to start an analysis.
It now remains to gauge the level of reliability of the solution, and when it will arrive in Gemini.
