Do you often send vocals? Here is why they will soon be more pleasant to listen to!
Do not pretend: you probably regularly send vocals to your loved onesperhaps on WhatsApp, or even through your conventional messaging application. This is relying more and more frequently on the RCS (Rich Communication Service) protocol, notably taken care of by Google message And by Apple for a few months. It allows you to send much more complete messages than traditional SMS, including images, files, stickers or even location shares.

The GSMA (GSM Association), a group of telephone operators and manufacturers, is responsible for defining the RCS contours, so that telephony actors can then apply them. Today it publishes the RCS Universal Profile in its version 3.1, which allows you to get an idea of what the messages of the future can look like.
Better quality vocals
Version 3.1 of the Universal Profile of the RCS includes solutions facilitating the connection of operators to the RCS, but above all, improving the quality of shared audio files using this protocol. It now supports the XHE-AAC codec, also adopted by Netflix in its Android application. This declination of the AAC Codec promises “Highly effective compression and decompression of shared audio content”. This translates, according to the GSMA, by ”A clearer and more natural reading” vocal notes, audio clips or even interactions with audio chatbots.
The GSMA does not specify which horizon will be adopted the latest specifications of the RCS protocol. It will probably take a few months, Google messages adopting just – and in its beta version only – the version 3.0 of the Universal Profile of the RCS.
