Donkey Kong Bananza is at the crossroads of different paths: kneaded of objects to collect as in the time of platform games of the 90s/2000, he borrows the sense of progression and research with modern open worlds, without falling into the back of the latter. He is square in his gameplay, yes, with a protagonist enjoyable to control, but also disjointed in his action, sometimes rough, but which never fails to be fun.
An observation shared by Cael de Gamekult, who, in his rich testpoint the finger at the sometimes capricious camera and the halftone boss. But this adventure makes, in its own words, “its letters of nobility to the gorilla”. Donkey Kong Bananza is available on Nintendo Switch 2 around € 60.
