With the release of Dyson V16 Piston Animal, Dyson has focused on one of the most common problems for users of Balais vacuums: tangling long hair in the brush. This model inaugurates a new brush design, baptized anti-tangle cones, whose conical shape is supposed to facilitate maintenance by avoiding hair to wrap around the roller.

Intrigued by this promise, we decided to test this functionality under the most real conditions possible, in order to verify its effectiveness. For this, we therefore put the Dyson V16 Piston Animal to the test, by comparing it to two other existing models: on the one hand, an outsize dyson, which, although older, shares a motorized brush with many other models of the brand, and on the other hand, an entry -level model, LEZICLEAN CYCLOMAX R12 FLEX. The objective being to check whether the new brush is able to keep its promises in tangled hair management and to facilitate the maintenance of the device.
Dyson V16 Animal Piston: a well thought out brush
The new Dyson V16 animal piston brush is designed to reduce long hair, a recurring problem with many balais vacuum cleaners. We tested this feature by sucking a few locks of long blond hair. The result is clear: the anti-tangle brush cones from Dyson V16 manages to manage the hair effectively, transforming it into small balls that come to nest at the ends of the brush. This configuration prevents the hair from wrapping around the roll and clogging the suction mouth.

The results are simply perfect: the effectiveness of the system is such that it is no longer necessary to disentangle the hair that is wrapped there. Just remove the small hair balls at the ends, which makes cleaning much faster and above all more hygienic. Less manipulation of the brush involves less direct contact, which is not to displease us, especially for animal owners.
Comparison with other models
During tests on the Eziclean Cyclomax R12 Flex and the Dyson V10 Outsize, notable differences appeared. On the Eziclean, long hair wrap around the roller over its entire length, creating a tangle difficult to disentangle. Disassembling the roller to remove the hair is long and tedious, which makes maintenance of the stressful vacuum cleaner.

The Dyson Outsize, although it is older, has an intermediate situation. As with the V16 animal piston, long hair wrap around the roll, but disassembly of the brush is easier thanks to a simplified design for maintenance. If the hair management system is not as innovative as that of the V16 animal piston, it remains more efficient than that of the Eziclean, with a relatively rapid and less restrictive cleaning, although it is sometimes a little more time than on the V16.
