Emmanuel Macron goes to the electric car with his DS n ° 8 presidential
If the majority of its trips are always provided by the faithful Renault Vel Presidential Steering in 2008, Emmanuel Macron paradoxically inaugurated many cars within the Garage de l’Elysée. His inauguration in 2017 had been marked by the choice of DS 7, while the President of the Republic has since opted for a Renault Rafale during the parade of July 14.
Now, on the occasion of the commemorations of the armistice of May 8, 1945, Emmanuel Macron yesterday inaugurated his new presidential car, a DS n ° 8. Its particularity: it is a 100 % electric car while the previously mentioned models were at best hybrid or rechargeable hybrid.
A modified model to meet the expectations of the Élysée
Many modifications have logically been made to this n ° 8 for its presidential use. These include the blue, white and red colors of the luminous grille, outdoor badges of the same colors and the fire holder. The interior of the crossover has also received unique changes, with a collaboration with the Lison de Caunes workshops to deliver a straw marquetry decor, with metaphors for satin panels, or with the Lognon workshop for pleated textiles dressing up.
Finally, Centigon, a French specialist in armored vehicles, is cited among the project partners. The n ° 8 with which Emmanuel Macron went to the commemorations of May 8, however, did not seem armored and was even equipped with a canvas sunroof. It is therefore likely that an armored version of the model is in the pipes to meet the needs of the president’s daily trips, as had been the case a posteriori For the DS 7.
Recall that the DS n ° 8 announces up to 750 km of autonomy in its serial version. The model is certainly produced in Europe, but not in France. It is assembled in Italy and its prices start at € 59,200 with its smallest battery.
The presidential DS n ° 8 will be visible on the occasion of the next edition of the Revelations fair, which will be held from May 21 to 25, 2025 at the Grand Palais.
