What if your tap was not content to distribute cold or hot water? It is the concept that guided the creators – Dutch – of the quooker tap and which is reminiscent Solitaire waterbase sink (a brand of Bosch). Indeed, the quooker can of course cause cold or hot water to flow, like all its classic competitors. But it can also distribute water at 100 ° C or as fresh as if it came from a carafe coming out just from the refrigerator and, icing on the cake, which could have been filtered before the service and even made gas. This feat is made possible by the presence of various reservoirs. Regarding hot water, water will be maintained at a temperature of 108 ° C (thanks to the magic of pressure) so that it is delivered to just 100 ° C. Note that Quooker evokes a power of 10 watts to ensure the maintenance of the temperature, which still seems very little. Several solutions are available, with more or less bulky tanks (3 and 7 liters) depending on the needs.

For cool water, the principle is quite similar but with an additional gas purification and injection system, if the user wishes of course. The price range oscillates between € 1300 for the distribution of boiling water (small tank) alone and can climb up to € 2,600 for the full pack; boiling water + refrigerated, filtered, flat and sparkling. Obviously, depending on the finishes of the taps, the prices can evolve.

A special and reassuring tap

Obviously, it is not possible to use the tanks with standard valves and it will therefore be necessary to equip themselves with a compatible model. The main difference lies in the ring, at the base of the beak; To obtain boiling water, it is pushed down the first time, a second time then, by keeping it so, we turn it to the left. A light ring lights up red to indicate the right handling of the command. We pull fresh and/or filtered and/or gasified water by pressing the ring down only once and turning it to the left. This time, it is a flashing blue light that lights up. Note that the conventional water distribution works using a conventional mixer.

This use, a tedious bit obeys security imperatives, mainly for children; Boiling water cannot be delivered in an involuntary way. Quooker also emphasizes the security of its tap and system as a whole. In this perspective, the boiling water tanks are provided with a double wall and are isolated under vacuum so that the heat does not escape. The tap is also isolated to avoid burning when boiling water passes there. In addition, the jet of boiling water is not a full jet but a less dangerous microaéré flow in the event of short contact.

A system for more comfort but which saves resources

The quooker tap is obviously a comfort device since we can very well do without it with a kettle, a filtering carafe or a soda machine like sodastream … However, the manufacturer insists on the saving of resources that its tap allows: more plastic bottle for gas water, no more water waste while waiting for it to be the right temperature (since the water comes out) and inexpensive. Everyone, however, will see noon at their door and if it is necessary, or not, to fall for the quooker tap.
