For the next elections, think about the dematerialized proxy thanks to France Identity

In March 2026 the next municipal elections will be held. For this important political meeting or for the following ones, the Ministry of the Interior reminds at the end of 2025 that the application France Identity Since 2024, it has been possible to carry out proxies in a dematerialized manner. This practical solution allows you to avoid having to go to a police station or gendarmerie, however, requires an initial manipulation: the certification of your digital identity.

After having created your digital identity in the application and initiated the certification request, you will need to confirm your email address, enter your code and finally scan your identity card via NFC. Finally, all that remains is to go to the town hall with or without an appointment and present the generated QR Code and your identity card.

How to apply for a dematerialized power of attorney?

Once your identity verification has been validated in the France Identity application, head to the site My Power of Attorney on your computer. Connect with the service of your choice via FranceConnect and fill out the request form.

Then choose option 2 “online” for identity verification. After indicating your place of residence, authenticate yourself to France Idété by scanning the QR code displayed. Enter your code in the France Identity application and scan your identity card. And there you have it, the power of attorney is validated and a confirmation email is sent to you.
