Framework Laptop 12: Laptop PC for teens for sale at Canon Prices
The Laptop 12 was announced in February 2025 by Framework. It is a 12 -inch laptop convertible into a tablet, intended for students who need a durable and easily repairable computer.
Modular and repairable
Framework therefore keeps the original idea of offering a customizable computer with many available colors and different possible configurations. It is also evolving and very easily repairable, like its elder the Laptop 13 framework that we tested, updated and of which we used the original motherboard to make a mini PC.
12.2 touch screen and convertible to tablet
The configuration of the Laptop 12 is based, as its name suggests, on a 12.2 inch slab displaying 1920×1200 px, the FHD+standard. This screen is both tactile and compatible with a stylus, since the Laptop 12 turns into a tablet by turning the 360 ° screen.

Aimed above all for children, its shell is made of TPU, a shock resistant material and easily replaceable, since all the components of the Laptop 12 will eventually sell on the Framework store, as for the Laptop 13.
Modest configuration but largely sufficient
The configuration is relatively basic to maintain a contained cost. We therefore find an Intel Core i3 or i5 processor of 13th generation, accompanied by a DDR5 type memory location of up to 48 GB of RAM, and a location for SSD which can reach 8 TB depending on the capacity of the SSD installed.

There are obviously the 4 locations for customizable modules that allow you to choose the desired connectivity (USB-C, USB, HDMI, SD card reader, etc.). The 6th WiFi is also supported, allowing to take advantage of the frequency band of 6 GHz and reach theoretical flows of 2.4 GB/s.
Prices that vary from single to double
Framework has just set up Pre -orders for Laptop 12whether in DIY version (go up it yourself) or pre-assembled for delivery from July 2025, right on time for the start of the school year.

On the tariff side, count a minimum of € 569 in bare version (without memory, storage unit and connection module) or € 773 at least in Core i3 with the minimum to start. If you do not have the soul of a handyman, you will have to pay € 849, still in Core i3, 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The transition to the Core i5, 16 GB and 512 GB configuration, which is a little more lasting, brings the price to € 1089, the price of a fine laptop PC accompanied by a latest generation processor.
Obviously, with equal configuration, framework is less well placed in terms of price, but the Laptop 12 is easily repairable and can be updated in the future, which is not the case for the majority of laptops.
