After having teased the design of the Galaxy S25 Edge twice, Samsung finally confirmed this week a date of formalization, set for May 13, 2025. An event that will highlight the ultra-fine design of this model, but also another key point: sustainability!

Make way for the Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, but what is it?

During the MWC 2025, Samsung had already wanted to reassure on a key point: sustainability from the Galaxy S25 Edge. The opportunity was therefore to reassure consumers in the face of an ultra-fine design, and therefore unconsciously more fragile. A trauma still hangs over the smartphones market: THE “Bandgate” Apple iPhone 6, where low pressure on smartphones were enough to fold them.

While waiting to talk about the resistance of the chassis of Galaxy S25 EdgeSamsung has already confirmed another key element linked to sustainability via a press release. The South Korean firm precisely unveiled this May 9, 2025 the use of a new protective glass: the Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, “Vitroceramic technology which provides advanced protection in a new remarkably fine device”.

In details, we learn that this ceramic glass is also made up of fine crystals, improving sustainability and crack resistance from the Galaxy S25 Edge screen. As a bonus, Samsung talks about the integration of the corning ions exchange process, which “Strengthening the ceramic material again and improves the solidity of the screen covering”.

In short, Samsung and Corning did everything to develop a protective glass “Both exceptionally fine and very resistant”adapting to perfection in the ultra-fine format of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

It remains to be seen whether these promises will really be held in the face of consumer uses, or if weaknesses will be there because of the finesse of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

The first answer still seems much more likely, since this smartphone is a direct and early response to The iPhone 17 Air. Failure is therefore not an option, because it would leave the way for Apple to impose this new device format.
