Gemini is now accessing certain Android applications: how to prevent it

After Metait is Google’s turn to want to assume questionable access to user data to feed and improve artificial intelligence. Since July 7, 2025, the Gemini AI is thus authorized to infiltrate and therefore to go rummage in certain applications on Android.

Greater interaction, but less privacy

Google has informed users by email of this size change, officially designed to allow Gemini to interact directly with certain applications to use them without even opening them. Telephone, messages, WhatsApp and utility apps on Android are affected.

Why not, but the problem is the default activation of this integration that many will judge intrusive. Google specifies all the same, in a certain artistic blur “If you have already disabled these features, they will remain deactivated.“”

Several methods make it possible to prevent Gemini from infiltrating everywhere (hoping that future Google updates cannot cancel this). Let us dwell on two techniques.

The first is to simply deactivate Gemini on your Android device (it is impossible to uninstall it completely without going through somewhat complex handling via ADB). To do this, head for the settings menu for settings. Find Geminipress it, then the button Disable.

The second is less radical and allows you to continue using Google AI while limiting the data provided. Direction gemini.google.com/apps from your mobile device. There, manually deactivate the applications to which you do not wish to give access and, possibly, the activity in the Gemini applications.

This last point, which also offers to erase its history, makes it possible to record the discussions in your account for a maximum of 72 hours.
