Google Maps: No more ugly icon, here’s how to customize your car

Google Maps allows you to change the icon of your vehicle in GPS navigation. The Mountain View firm has deployed new customization options for this icon, ensuring a closer resemblance to your car. Here are the new possible changes as well as the user manual to apply them from your smartphone.

1. Start a route

The first step to access the icon customization menu which represents your vehicle on the map is to launch a route. Regardless of the destination, it is nevertheless necessary that the starting point is your current position.

Then type on the blue icon which represents your position.

2. Choose your driving avatar

A component opens in the application. It allows you to select the vehicle of your choice from eight models.

In addition to selecting the shape of the vehicle, Google offers a little more personalization since eight colors are available: white glacier, black night, ash gray, red Coquelicot, sky blue, sun yellow, green-blue and sunset magenta.

3. Validate the modifications

Once the driving avatar model and its color are selected, you can click on the “OK” button to validate the modifications.

You now have an icon that looks a little more like your car in Google Maps.
