GTA 6 for more than €100? “They’re the only ones who can afford it,” says a competitor

Declare that the output of GTA 6 May 26, 2026 is feverishly awaited by gamers and the video game industry would be an understatement. The juggernaut, already elected even before his arrival as being the biggest video game of all time (its estimated budget would be 2 billion dollars), certainly does not lack ambition. It is therefore not surprising, in a context where more and more AAA games are passing the symbolic €60 mark to ask players for €70, or even €80, that many are wondering how much Take Two and Rockstar will charge for GTA 6.

GTA 6 is worth $100 according to a competing developer

If a survey carried out by an analysis firm concludes that the ideal price would be $69.99 (and therefore probably €79.99), Chris Stockman does not agree. Asked in an interview about the reboot of Saints Row and GTA, the design director of the first game Saints Rowhistorical competitor of the saga Grand Theft Autois clear.

To the possibility that GTA 6 will be billed at $100 (and therefore probably more in euros), he responds: “They are the only ones who can afford it.” He adds: “I think there will be a huge backlash if everyone goes to $100. Not all games are created equal. I think GTA is the only one that can pull this off, and I hope they do. I really hope it’s $100. I think it deserves $100.“

We now have to wait a few months to find out if Take Two and Rockstar agree with this, or if they will offer a more “reasonable” price so as not to rush players. There is no doubt that despite the hype, many players will not be ready to pay such a price for a video game, especially since potential collector’s editions risk costing even more.

Given the massive longevity of GTA 5 and the fact that it has continued to sell massively over the years, the publisher and the developer can however try their luck, even if it means lowering the price later (for the PC release, why not?).
