Harry Potter (max): HBO finally announces the official casting of the future series

The recruitment of key professors from Hogwarts is over! The HBO series Harry Potter has just officially announced the cast of six actors who will cross the boy's path who survived in this new adaptation of the work of JK Rowling. So who will play Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall or Severus Rogue on Max ? Answer below.

Four confirmed actors

Aorès of long weeks of rumors and unofficial declarations, HBO (finally) confirmed that John Lithgow (The Crown) will wear the glasses in half-moon from Albus Dumbledore and that Paapa essiedu (Gangs of London) will carry the Cape of Professor Rogue.

For his part, Janet McTeer (Kaos) will indeed lend its features to the director of Gryffindor, Minerva McGonagall, while Nick Frost (Hot fuzz) will be the goalkeeper of keys and places at Hogwarts, Rubeus Hagrid.

As fans of the saga suspect Harry Potterall three will be regular characters in the series.

Two new faces announced

But that's not all! HBO also announced the actors who will play Professor Quirrell and the concierge Argus Rusard. The first will be played by Luke Thallon, mainly known for his roles in the theater, while the second will be interpreted by Paul Whitehouse (The Change).

“We are happy to announce the cast of John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse to play Dumbledore, McGonagall, Rogue, Hagrid, Quirrell and Rusard”said Francesca Gardiner, showrunner and executive producer, and Mark Mylod, director and executive producer.

“We are delighted to be able to count on such extraordinary talents and we can't wait to see them give new life to these beloved characters.”

As a reminder, the series Harry Potter D'HBO, scheduled for released at the end of 2026 or early 2027 on the Max streaming platform in France, will be a faithful adaptation of Rowling books.

It is written and produced by Gardiner. Mylod will make several episodes and produce the show in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television. The series is produced by JK Rowling, Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Itts by Brontë Film and TV, but also David Heyman of Heyday Films.
