Note that the speed is adjustable from the compatible boxes and that it can be controlled remotely by a remote control or a smartphone!
As Canon has still not deigned to stabilize the sensor of its APS-C boxes, the Japanese giant therefore incorporates optical stabilization in all its zooms. And this 14-30 mm is no exception. A device that makes it possible to obtain up to 5 stabilization speeds. Which will not be too much given the openings: f/4.0 in the Grand-Angle and F/6.3 position with zoom.
A modern and light optics
If it is not a high -end optics, this zoom is still modern. There is a very silent AF-by-step engine, the aforementioned motorization. And above all an optics in 10 elements and 9 very light groups: 181 grams on the scale.
On the focus side, the minimum distance in the largest position is only 15 cm, which will help highlight the nearby subjects. Only reproach: the optics do not include protection against dust and bad weather. This limits its action on difficult terrains, especially since it incorporates an engine.

The RF-S barrel 14-30 mm f/4.0-6.3 IS STM PZ will be available during the month of April to 399 €. A suitable rate in view of the exorbitant pros optics in recent times.
