Honor grid priority to Samsung: the Magic V5 steals the show at the Galaxy Z Fold 7

A week before the announcement From the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Honor officially presented the Magic V5 on July 2, 2025. Honor Magic V5 or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold? This is the question

Let’s start with an expensive element to the folding of Honor: finesse. With the Magic V5, the number 1 place is back with a thickness of only 8.8 mm in folded mode, 1 mm less than the Oppo Find N5. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 would table on 8.2 mm.

In the photo, Honor plays the big game with the Magic V5 with a rear module consisting of a 50 Mpx sensor with a large angle, an ultra-wide-angle module of 50 Mpx and another with 70 mm telephoto. What to undermine the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which would only have a MP 200 Mpx main sensor as a big novelty. On the selfie side, the two screens are home to a 20 MP camera.

Finally, the autonomy promises a clear improvement, since the capacity of its battery goes from 5,120 mAh for the Magic V4 to 6,100 mAh in China or 5,820 mAh internationally for the Magic V5. To accompany it, we are entitled to the 60 W wired fast charge and the 50 W wireless load. On this side, Samsung would not offer any improvement in relation to the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Available in the white, black, gold and brown colors, the Honor Magic V5 is currently reserved for the Chinese market, with a starting price of 8,999 yuan, or € 1,255 excluding taxes, at the current exchange rate.
