If you have a Nest Google thermostat, very bad news next October
But this is not the only bad news: the Mountain View firm completely ceases the launch of new Nest products in Europe, therefore in France. The owners of thermostats marketed in 2011 and 2012, but also the European version of 2014, will no longer have the right to support. The devices will no longer be recognized by Nest and Home applications.
End of the thermostat support for Google Nest Learning
However, it will be possible to continue to adjust the temperature and the programming directly from the Nest Learning thermostats. Google justifies this decision: “To fully invest in these future advances and bring you the most innovative features on our latest generation of Nest thermostats, we will stop taking charge of three of our oldest devices, each with more than a decade.”
As for stopping the launch of new Nest products in Europe, the US company specifies: “The heating systems in Europe are unique and have a variety of hardware and software requirements that make it difficult to design for the diverse set of homes.”
