Instagram: after years of waiting, finally the novelty expected by certain users

Users of WhatsApp waited six years before finally being entitled to messaging on the iPad. So far, you had to go through an iPhone version little suitable for the tablet screen. Ditto for Instagram but, fortunately, things could change.

Instagram on iPad, finally an application?

Already, last April, Kaya Yurieff and Kalley Huang of The information revealed that Meta is working on an iPad application for Instagram. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg confirms this information in his newsletter Power One with details.

According to Mark Gurman, Meta employees test Instagram for the iPad with an outing by the end of 2025. Development would therefore have reached an advanced stage and the main features would be operational.

Meta therefore fills the enormous gap after years to abandon the Apple ecosystem, very popular. However, Facebook has been available for the iPad since 2011 but it was not until 2025 that Whatsapp, and soon Instagram, took advantage of it.

Instagram on the iPad responds to the demand of users who have long wanted the experience to be optimized for the big screen of the tablet. The use of the social network via a web browser or the enlarged iPhone application was not satisfactory at all.

On the other hand, there is another Meta service that does not have its iPad application: threads, direct competition from X. But if WhatsApp and Instagram are entitled to it, there is no reason that the platform does not benefit from it either.
