Internet alone and cheap: Free launches the Freebox Pop S to counter Bouygues
As part of Internet service providers, competition is definitely good. In order to respond without really hiding from the recent offer Pure Bouygues Telecom fiber (Launched in November 2024 at € 23.99 per month with a maximum speed of 8 GB/S), Free has just launched this Tuesday, April 8, the Freebox Pop S. It also offers only internet access, without additional service, such as television.
Free catches up with the Freebox Pop S
Without commitment and billed € 24.99 per month, the Freebox Pop S offer, exclusive to the web, takes up the Freebox Pop case. Free promises here rates of up to 5 GB/s shared (that is to say by combining the different Ethernet ports and WiFi) for download, and 900 Mb/s in sending. This last figure confirms the recent increase noted by some.
If you cannot take advantage of the fiber, the offer also exists in ADSL and VDSL and is compatible with Free Family. On the maximum speed side, Bouygues is therefore better for a euro less with its pure fiber offer, also equipped with a 10 GBE port.
An offer that goes to the essentials
Wi-Fi 7 is embedded in the latest Freebox Pop which is used for this Freebox Pop S offer, for a speed of up to 2.2 GB/s. For accommodation in need, a Wi-Fi 7 repeater is also provided on request. No player box to watch TV, Oqee or Free Foot, is therefore there.
It should be noted that the telephone part is slightly amputated compared to the very short freebox, offered for the record at € 29.99 per month (for a year, then 39.99). Indeed, if in the Freebox Pop s we find the calls are only unlimited to fixed in France and the DOM, exit those towards mobiles in France and DOM.
