With theiPhone 17 Pro MaxApple offers everything you need to seduce. Display, performance, endurance, camera… Everything is top notch. Although durability is up for debate, a questionable choice was made on the design side, with a more imposing size. According to a recent rumor, the apple company will be doing it again as soon asiPhone 18 Pro Maxto once again improve a flagship aspect of its premium model.

Always thicker, always heavier: this is Apple’s project for the iPhone 18 Pro Max

iPhone Pro Maxes are taking up more and more space, and Apple hasn’t improved things lately. We have in fact gone from a thickness of 8.25 mm on the iPhone 15 Pro Max to 8.75 mm on theiPhone 16 Pro Maxbut also with a weight of 227 g to 233 g.

A situation ultimately caused by Apple’s desire to add a larger battery to its new 2025 model, and therefore to offer better autonomy. This increase in size would unfortunately not be complete, given thatInstant Digital believes that the iPhone 18 Pro Max would suffer a similar fate.

On Weibothe whistleblower indeed shared that the format would be “a little thicker” than the current model, and would even exceed 240 g. As a reminder, the iPhone 14 Pro Max was until now the title holder with exactly this weight, followed by the iPhone 13 Pro Max with 238 g.

All this seems to agree with a previous leak from the informant, which specified that Apple had “understood that making iPhones thinner and lighter did not necessarily make them more attractive to consumers if it meant compromising on features and battery life”reminds MacRumors.

It remains to be seen whether this increase in weight is really necessary, the autonomy being already excellent on the latest models. We can therefore assume that Apple should probably rely on an even larger battery to power its future AI functions — without sacrificing the endurance of its best-equipped iPhone.
