It had to happen, Call of Duty will be adapted in film
The publisher Activision (now Blizzard Activision) has some of the most juicy video game licenses in the industry. No surprises therefore, after Minecraft In particular, that another ultra-popular IP is making the cinema: Call of Duty. No rumor and other corridor noises here, it’s paramount (now Paramount Skydance) which directly formalized the thing on September 2, 2025.
Call of Duty at the cinema: this time is it good?
Difficult to have never heard of the Call of Duty license, launched in 2003 and today with several dozen games on all supports. The Paramount press release is also clear: “Call of Duty has been the best-selling video game series in the United States for 16 consecutive years, with more than 500 million copies sold worldwide, affecting hundreds of millions of players across the globe and in a major influencing popular culture for more than two decades.“”

Paramount will develop, produce and distribute the film live-action, while Activision will also be on board for this project. For the moment, it is impossible to know which opus will inspire the film, or if it will be an original intrigue. Between its multiple characters, places or even eras, it is not the choice that is missing in the games. After Varietythe deal would cover this film, but also potential other, or even series.
David Ellison, CEO of Paramount, says: “As a long -standing fan of Call of Duty, it’s really a dream that becomes reality. Since the first Allied campaigns in the Call of Duty Original, including Modern Warfare and Black Ops, I spent countless hours playing this franchise that I love. Being charged by Activision and players from around the world to wear this extraordinary narrative universe on the big screen is both an honor and a responsibility that we do not take lightly.“”
He also adds: “We approach this project with the same rigorous and uncompromising commitment to the excellence that guided our work on Top Gun: Maverick, in order to ensure that it meets the exceptionally high standards that this franchise and its fans deserve.“”

A portage to the interest that leaves doubtful
On the side of Rob Kostich, president of Activision, the words are a little more classic, but not less enthusiastic: “With Paramount, we found a fantastic partner with which we will collaborate to transpose this visceral and breathtaking action on the big screen in a decisive cinematographic moment. The film will pay tribute and develop what made the success of this franchise, and we are impatient to embark on this adventure.“”
It remains to be hoped that this project will be more likely than that of 2018, where Activision Blizzard Studios had failed to produce a film Call of Duty With director Stefano Sollima (Sicario 2: Soldo). The most teasing could also question the interest of such a portage, video games being already very cinematographic and great spectacle in their staging.
