JBL Endurance Zone: sports headphones that dry itself thanks to vibrations
Contrary to what JBL suggests, the JBL Endurance Zone are not its test on the market for headphones with sporting air conduction. Indeed, the brand already proposed the Soundgear Sensetraditional open headphones on which you can set a neck. This hybrid format, although representative of a desire to innovate, does not really seem to have found its audience. JBL therefore returns today with the Endurance Zone, open-in-one open-enders, like the Shokz Open Fit 2of the Huawei Freearcof the Nothing Ear (Open)etc.
A modernized air conduction sports formula
On the form, the endurance zone are distinguished from the Soundgear Sense by batteries integrated in the ends of their liquid silicone ear turns. If this design benefits the maintenance, it would also have made it possible to design less imposing shells. Without being necessarily lighter, the weight of endurance zone is therefore undoubtedly better distributed around the ear.
Thanks to an IP68 certification, the endurance zone is even more resistant to the elements than many competitors. They can be immersed in water without fear, for an hour, and withstand dust. JBL also promises resistance to perspiration, but still suggests rinseing them under water after a session. In order to preserve the headphones, we can also count on the JBL Pulsedry function (available via the Headphones App), which eliminates residual humidity by vibration.
Adaptive bass boost technology and 8 h autonomy
Like all open headphones, endurance zone are designed so that the user can remain attentive to the environment. Thus, their acoustic room is placed in front of the auditory duct, without entering it. As usual, JBL does not detail their acoustic architecture, but the endurance zone should be equipped with a transducer of fairly substantial dimensions to cover the entire sound spectrum, like its fellows. In order to compensate for the lack of bass inherent in open format, we can count on a technology called Bass Boost adaptive, which “automatically adjusts the bass depending on the volume“.
Endurance zone should also give pride of place to telephone calls thanks to no less than four bundle training microphones integrated in each earpiece. Finally, note that the brand promises a practical use of the case thanks to an integrated loop, as well as intuitive control by touch controls.
On the autonomy side, these JBL open headphones would be able to play music for 8 hours without interruption. Performance above the average, reinforced by a quick recharge of 10 min sufficient to offer 3 hours of additional listening.
Endurance zone will be available from July 2025 at a price of € 129.99, in black/gray, black/lemon green finishes, purple/grape, blue/white and white/orange.
