Labo – Samsung S95F: What does AI bring to the manufacturer's new TV?
Difficult to miss the AI for some time, and we see it landing on a phenomenal quantity of tech products wrongly or through. Our televisions were obviously not going to escape the rule and some features are being deployed by Samsung on its 2025 TV ranges, and in particular on the excellent S95F that we have just tested. We will pass on the generation of screens that seems anecdotal to us, but we can dwell on some flagship features announced to CES, including the transcription of subtitles in real time.
The new S95F in action.
Few details had been unveiled at the Las Vegas show, but we were able to test this feature which is unfortunately much more limited than expected. Do not imagine yourself translating any video content in real time (this function will arrive in a few years no doubt, when the AI will manage a little better), since this only works on TNT channels … and the chain or the current program must incorporate subtitles metadata, which is not always the case. On the other hand, most channels of the public service or arte for example can take advantage of it, and it is therefore enough to activate the AI subtitles in the settings.
Real -time translation on French Arte to English.
If the functionality is only available in this way, it is because the TV translates the text data transmitted by the chain (in real time and locally), and not any audio signal, hence the limiting factor. A dozen languages are in any case available, and you can install up to three on the TV.
It works rather well, although everything is being refined before the official market of televisions in April. Beyond the limited use cases, this functionality seems sympathetic to us, but we must admit that it is very situational, individuals who do not often need German subtitles of German subtitles More beautiful life or Question for a champion At home, unless your distant cousin Manfred came to give you a little visit on occasion.
Some additional info on bonus content
AI can analyze the content in real time and give some additional info.
Second available feature, real -time content analysis which is accessible with one click on the new button on the Samsung remote control. It allows you to display information on what you look at at the moment T, with some recommendations for similar content. It should soon be possible to also have information on the actors and actresses on the screen in a dedicated tab, depending on what AI “sees” in real time, but the functionality was not yet available during our test. An addition that will probably not revolutionize your use, but which could be interesting when you have the name of this actor or actress on the tip of the tongue for 7 min good minutes without being able to find it.
The AI will give us recommendations and information on the actors and actress on the screen.
As you can see, the integrated AI on Samsung televisions does not seem to us to be clearly essential at the moment. However, the possibilities may well evolve quickly to the rhythm of the progress of artificial intelligence, and one can imagine new features land with updates in the future. We will see what competition offers on televisions that will be released in 2025, but we doubt that no one truly revolutionizes the market thanks to AI, in any case, for the moment …
