LG Cinebeam S: The new 4K Ultra Focal 4K video projector is also ultra compact

LG launched its mini video projector Cinebeam Q in 2024design and friendly model that we had tested, but which was not free from defect. The Korean manufacturer continues on its momentum with the Cinebeam S (PU615U), an ultra short focal model capable of displaying a 4K HDR image ranging from 40 to 100 inches.

A compact model with premium design

Most ultra short focal video projectors are quite voluminous (we think of the formo Theater Premium, the Hisense PX3 Pro or the Hisense PT1 for example), but LG this time on a very compact model. It measures 110 × 160 × 160 mm and with its 1.9 kg featherweight, it can be easily transported.

Advantage of this type of video projector: it can be installed very close to a wall or a projection canvas. Placed only 8.1 cm from the projection surface, it already produces a 40 -inch diagonal, and reaches 100 inches at 39.3 cm, and it can therefore be easily installed in a small living room or a bedroom.

A laser and a good contrast on the program

Thanks to its RGB laser source, the cinebeam S promises good coverage of colorimetric spaces, even if the embedded module does not seem to be a triple laser. The video projector is HDR10 compatible, but unfortunately not Dolby Vision. We will have to be satisfied with a brightness of 500 Lumens Ansi, typical of this type of small video projector and if LG announces a contrast at 450,000: 1, we will check all this in our lab of course, because reality should be quite different.

Webos interface, price and availability

The Cinebeam obviously incorporates the LGOS House Interface, allowing many applications directly, as well as on the brand’s televisions. Connectivity is full: HDMI, two USB-C ports, and AirPlay 2 for screen sharing. LG also offers automatic screen setting (Auto Screen Adjustment) which is still very rare on ultra short focal projectors.

The video projector will be available in September at a price which should be around € 1,300.
