Logitech MX Master 4: The queen of office mice is at the service of creatives with this ingenious function

Logitech is preparing to renew its emblematic mouse, which continues to improve over the generations. There MX Master 3S, which we tested in May 2022had already brought its share of innovations with a new 8000 DPI sensor and the Bolt connection dongle, more secure than the old Unify. The MX Master 3S had also gained in silence thanks to more discreet, much less “climatic” switches.

Subtle physical adjustments for the MX Master 4

If the complete technical specifications of the mouse have not yet been revealed, the first images of the MX Master 4 unveil some notable physical modifications. The battery state witness, formerly located behind the horizontal scroll wheel, now migrates on the top of the mouse, just behind the upgrade button on the main wheel.

The horizontal scroll wheel also seems to be better integrated into the shell, and a new button appears just below it, upstream of the traditional previous/return buttons. Its exact function remains to be confirmed, but it is assumed that it could be the button allowing to switch between the virtual offices, which was previously located under the pump rest. What is certain is that this button, like all the others, will be fully customizable via the software suite Logi Options+.

An unprecedented button thought for the Adobe suite

It is a new button located at the end of the flare rest, decorated with eight small circles, which particularly caught our attention. A logi options+ screenshot reveals its function: like the Asus virtual wheel on its laptops ProArta support on this button will display a virtual wheel on the screen offering eight options, which can be varyed with the thumb wheel.

Concretely, in software like Photoshop, a pressure on this button will give access to eight customizable functions (contrast, brightness, posterization, layer order, exhibition, etc.). We can then adjust their value by turning the wheel. According to the capture of Logi Options+, this feature will be compatible with the whole Adobe suite, including in particular first pro, after Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop. The eight tools offered will also be customizable according to your preferences.

Hopefully Logitech will extend this personalization to other content creation software outside the Adobe suite. Anyway, this function could really save precious time to all image, video, or even 3D professionals.

The announcement of the MX Master 4 is therefore expected for the start of the 2025 school year. Its price should not be lower than that of the MX Master 3s when it was released, or around 130 euros.
