Model Y Performance: Tesla launches the new sports version of its flagship SUV, even more impressive

If all Tesla models, like many other electric cars, already offer high -level performance, sports versions of the brand’s cars allow you to enjoy performance worthy of certain supercars at a much less elitist rate.

Among them, the performance version of the model had disappeared from the catalog from the restyling of Tesla’s flagship electric SUV. As with the Model 3, the brand did not immediately renew this sports version, especially because it receives more modifications than other versions.

Developments both aesthetic and technical

Now launched, the Model Performance is more distinguished from other versions than in the past. As for the Model 3, he wins shields with a more sporty style and offers specific Arachnid 2.0 rims of 21 inch.

In addition to the numerous developments brought by the restyling of Model Y, this performance version inherits the sports seats of the Model 3 Performance, while the previous iteration shared its seats with the other versions of the SUV, and a carbon fiber banner on its dashboard.

The technical sheet also evolves, while the classic versions of the model were not entitled to a technical overhaul during its restyling. The Model Performance takes over the Motopropulseur Performance 4DU group of the Model 3 Performance, still at two electric motors and four -wheel drive. It announces a 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 s (excluding launch), two tenths of a second better than before, for a top speed of 250 km/h.

Thanks in particular to new cells with improved energy density, the Model Performance displays a 580 km WLTP autonomy, compared to 514 km before.

The Model Y Performance, which weighs 2033 kg, also wins an adaptive suspension, which was lacking in the previous model and which should improve its versatility. The rear body structure has been reviewed to increase the torsion resistance, as well as the rolling trains, while new stability control settings should make it possible to limit its interventions in sport driving, without however being able to completely deactivate it.

It may not be worse when you know that these impressive performance will be in the hands of sometimes inexperienced drivers. For good reason, the price of € 61,990 of this new performance version, certainly not within the reach of all budgets, exposes it to customers still much wider than thermal models with similar performance. At a time when we write these lines, Tesla announces a delivery in September 2025 for orders placed.
