Moto Ai: “We do in three months what others do in a year,” say Motorola and Perplexity

As tradition now wants, software news and in particular IA take precedence over hardware. Thus, even before the formalization of its new smartphones, Motorola has highlighted many advanced partners and features.
New tools are indeed joining the AI motorcycle suite, as Catch me up,, Pay attention And Remember thisthat we find on the recent (and successful) Edge 60 Fusion. Moto AI thus becomes a real digital assistant, and is enriched new products such as Next Movewhich offers recommendations based on what is displayed on the screen, or Playlist Studio To generate tailor -made musical selections.
Work together, in all intelligence
In order to win on the AI field, Motorola associates with giants like Google, Meta, Microsoft and Perplexity. The latter promises in -depth research and an enriched navigation experience. The Lenovo brand also offers Perplexity Pro for three months, giving access to research Ai-enhanced and immediate responses via the Perplexity assistant. The collaboration with Google also brings Gemini and Gemini Live directly on the external screen of the new RAZRs, in addition to the free trial at Google One AI Premium.
Motorola also puts artificial intelligence at the service of photography enthusiasts, with style signature, which automatically adjusts the colors and the lighting of the photos according to the scene, and Group Shot, equivalent of the best installation of Google Pixel.
At the end of the conference, Digital had the opportunity to exchange for a few moments with the leaders of Motorola and Perplexity, and return to their partnership and their common vision of artificial intelligence.
Sergio Buniac, president of Motorola We start from the principle that we do not know what we do not know. From the start, we bet on Bose’s expertise for audio and pantone for colors. We therefore followed the same logic with AI, surrounding us with the best. Working with Perplexity allows us to offer an experience in accordance with our vision. We thought motorcycles like a kind of concierge, both discreet and proactive. In two or three months, we do what others would take a year to achieve. We found a partner that shares the same principles, which can act quickly and participate in this global idea. We are fortunate to offer an AI that works, which is not the case for everyone today. To do this, we decided to involve users in the development process, and take their feedback very seriously. After a beta phase in November, Catch me up is now one of our flagship features.
Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity It seems to me that discussions started at the end of last year. We launched our Android assistant at the beginning of this year, but of course we showed them before its release. We are very happy with the result, which has excited everyone. Despite the fact that we are a start-up, we were able to deliver this quickly. I think what is quickly done can still be well done. People want the latest news. People want new features all the time. So you have to be good in both areas, and it is for this reason that they came to us to collaborate. They have a clear vision of how to stop selling the same phones and continuing to innovate.
Nicole Hagen, Moto AI manager We collaborate very closely. When we started our discussions with Perplexity, we really appreciated the speed with which they developed their product, and their mastery of artificial intelligence. Depending on where you are, from the screen point of view, Moto Ai presents the tool best suited to the task and adjusts according to what is displayed. The other key element was to ensure that the Perplexity experience was optimized to, of course, the main screen of the RAZR, but even more important, from the point of view of the format, for the external screen. We also established a roadmap with Aravind and there are a few very interesting points that we have planned for the future.
Nicole Hagen It depends on the device, the functionality, and the task to be accomplished. There is a mixture of actions managed locally, as on the Llama model, in partnership with Meta, as well as in the cloud. Regarding personal data, it is only stored securely on the device. If something should be sent to the cloud for any treatment, it is completely encrypted and never saved.
Sergio Buniac Security is an interesting and crucial point. We do not promise the most secure cloud. We promise that your data stay with you.
Sergio Buniac We want to democratize our AI tools as much as possible. Now, due to material and economic constraints, the possibilities could vary between our premium products and the more affordable models. That said, we are committed to providing a rich experience to all our users, whatever the range. The objective is simple: even with a cheaper product, you must be able to benefit from an incredible experience.
Aravind Srinivas We can review the operating system with more native AI, but bone is a fundamentally different concept of artificial intelligence. This is the nucleus on which the AI works, and as such, I think that the applications will not disappear. People will always go on social networks, and spend hours scrolling on Instagram or Tiktok. The AI will not change this. I can hardly imagine the user asking his device to scroll through his news feed and tell him what is interesting. Even if an AI can tell you with precision which clothes to buy according to your past research and the weather, I am convinced that people are attached to their free will.
Aravind Srinivas Difficult to predict, but if you take the simple example of telephone calls, it would be unthinkable to get rid of the associated application, no matter which one. You have to have something with whom to contact other people, send messages. You have to be able to be connected to the others. Now the real question is whether people want to abandon their autonomy and their link with the outside.
