In the coming weeks and months, subscribers to Netflix will gradually discover a new version of the streaming platform, on television and mobile.
This is distinguished by a simplified interface, an improved personalized space, and better research feature to allow members to discover more content to their taste. We take stock.
A more fluid interface
This Tuesday evening, Eunice Kim, Chief Product Officer, and Elizabeth Stone, Chief Technology Officer, presented to the international press (and to Digital) Netflix’s new TV interface. Kim explained:
“When we started reflection around this project, our objective was to design a more flexible experience, capable of reflecting all the richness of our entertainment offer – a clearer, more intuitive interface, and better suited to the uses of our members, to better enhance what makes Netflix’s singularity.”

Thus, the new version of the platform stands out on several points. First, a sleek design, easier to use. The shortcuts to “Research” and “My Netflix” are, for example, now placed at the top of the home page in order to make them more visible.
Likewise, the useful information for making an informed program choice is also highlighted, such as the “Winner of an Emmy Award” or “most popular TV series.”

Personalized recommendations
The recommendations are also more suitable, just to best stick to the mood and the interests of the user’s moment. Thus, while you explore Netflix, the algorithm adapts the content suggestions according to the trailers you view or the titles and talents you are looking for.

A beta version of this tool is currently accessible on iOS via simple registration. It allows you to search for films or series With more natural formulations, like “I want something funny and happy”, in order to find content according to specific desires.
An evolving mobile experience
On mobile, feeds enriched with short extracts from series and Netflix movies will also be tested to make the discovery of content more intuitive and fun. Subscribers will be able to launch the title in question, add it to the “My list” section or share it with their loved ones.
The “moments” functionintroduced a few months ago and which allows members to share scenes of films or series on social networks, will evolve in the coming months, even if Netflix has not yet specified to what extent.
