Alongside the announcement of “Hey Copilot” and “Copilot Actions”Microsoft has formalized the integration of an assistant dedicated to gaming, called Gaming Copilot (in Beta version), in the new range of portable consoles developed in partnership with the manufacturer ASUS. It is reminiscent of G-Assist, Nvidia’s assistant to support gamers equipped with its GeForce RTX graphics cards.

The models concerned, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, are portable consoles allowing access to games from the Xbox and PC ecosystems (Game Pass, Steam, etc.). The main new software feature lies in the addition of this AI assistant, directly accessible from the device interface.

Concretely, the user can activate the Gaming Copilot by long-pressing the “library” button on the console. This action opens a dialog interface with the assistant, which can then provide game recommendations, tips or contextual help. As with the PC version, this feature was designed to be used without having to leave the current game.

A strategic collaboration
This announcement illustrates Microsoft’s strategy to unify its software services (Windows, Xbox, Game Pass) with dedicated hardware solutions, relying on established partners like ASUS. The integration of an AI assistant directly into a dedicated gaming machine represents a new approach for the company in the competitive mobile gaming segment.
