The very good year of Netflix is slowly coming to an end, but the streaming giant intends to end 2025 in style, with new quality films, series and documentaries added to its catalog in December.

In addition to Volume 2 of season 5 of Stranger Thingswe thus wait for the series The Abandons, Pax Massilia And Emily in Parisand we will be warm on our sofa to watch the films Jay Kelly, Wake Up Dead Man or even Troll 2. Enough to establish Netflix a little more as the market leader, ahead of HBO Max, Disney+ And Prime Video.

Before presenting you with all the additions planned for Netflix in December 2025, The Digitals As usual, shares with you his favorite of the month, both on the film and series sides.

Netflix series of the month

The Abandons

Washington Territory, 1854. The matriarchs of two completely opposed families, one wealthy and privileged, linked by blood, and the other made up of orphans and misfits united by love and necessity, see their destinies brought together by crimes, a terrible secret, a cursed love and a deposit of money. A collision that echoes the struggle between rich and poor in a corner of America beyond the reach of justice.

This dramatic western in ten episodes carried by Lena Headey (Game of Thrones) and Gillian Anderson (Sex Education) brings two families face to face – one of rich aristocrats, the other of orphans united by love – in a fierce power struggle against a backdrop of corruption and secrets. Created by Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy), this show, both dark and human, set against the backdrop of the conquest of the West, is one of the series events of this end of the year.

Available December 4 on Netflix.

Wake Up Dead Man: A tale of daggers drawn

Inspector Benoît Blanc is assigned a new case that brings him into contact with a charismatic priest, Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, and his fervent congregation. When a mysterious murder occurs, Blanc must unravel a complex web of secrets and latent tensions within the community to uncover the truth.

After At Knives Out in 2019 and Glass Onion in 2022, Benoît Blanc returns for a third investigation, more gothic and complicated than ever, in the pure spirit of the so-called “closed room” police intrigue, in the spirit of the “Mystery of the Yellow Room”. Daniel Craig reprises the role of the Belgian detective, again in front of the camera from Rian Johnson, and accompanied by a stellar cast: Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church. A mystery that we obviously dive into with pleasure.

Available December 12 on Netflix.
