Since its release, The Nintendo Switch 2 impresses with its power and versatility. But for some players – the editorial consoles do not seem to be affected – the enthusiasm quickly gave way to the concern: their console heats up, sometimes to be lukewarm … even though it is in standby. The concern does not come from a material defect, but from a network activated by default.

This network parameter overheat certain Nintendo Switch 2 consoles

This discreet culprit is the option “Active cable connection during the day before”. Designed to maintain the Ethernet connection in order to download updates or remain reachable for certain features, this option actually prevents Switch 2 from sinking into real sleep. Result: the console continues to solicit its network processor, heats up abnormally, and exhausts its battery on low heat.

Testimonies flock to Redditand all go in the same direction: once this parameter is disabled, the console finds normal behavior. The temperature falls, the standby autonomy improves, and the dock stops shining like a backup heating.

So how to correct the shot? Fortunately, the solution is as fast as it is effective:

  1. Meet in Parameters of your switch 2.
  2. Go to the section Rest mode.
  3. Disable the option Active cable connection during the day before.

And here it is: if this setting was activated in your home, from the next standby, your Switch 2 will fall back into a deep sleep worthy of the name. Please note: downloads in the background via Ethernet will no longer be possible in this state. If you want to find this function without heating the console, WiFi remains a softer alternative – but not completely exempt from risks, according to some returns still isolated.

Pending a possible Nintendo corrective, this small manipulation may well save the thermal longevity of your console.
