YouTube prohibits lives to under 16s from July 22, with application in France and sanctions to the key

This new restriction is part of a global effort of the platform to protect the youngest from the drifts of direct: inappropriate behavior, harassment in live, psychological pressure linked to the exposure. “Live streaming can be risky for younger adolescents”recognizes Youtube in his press release.

From July 22, 2025, we note the minimum age required to broadcast live at 16 years old. This means that creators will have to be at least 16 years old to be able to make lives on YouTube.

YouTube

Concretely, a young creator aged 13 to 15 will always be able to appear in a live broadcast … provided that an adult is physically present by his side and visible on the screen. Otherwise, not only will the live function be blocked, but sanctions will also be able to apply: removal of the cat live, account restrictions or even suspension.

In addition, live broadcasts featuring adolescents aged 13 to 15, visibly not accompanied by an adult, will be able to see their cat live deactivated, and the account may temporarily lose access to live cats or other features.

This change is superimposed on the French laws already in place. Since 2023, a so -called digital majority rule requires parental agreement to create an account on social networks before 15 years. If you add Youtube’s policy, the room for maneuver for the youngest on the platform collapses.
