OpenAI accelerates “Garlic”, the new version of ChatGPT which is arriving very soon

This could correspond to the end of ChatGPT as we knew him. While OpenAI has long been the leader in AI, it now has to face other giants, like Claude or more recently Gemini 3 and the prowess of Nano Banana. One solution: evolve and quickly!

Sam Altman started thered alert : ChatGPT becomes priority number 1, to the detriment of Pulse and advertising projects. The goal: to make it more personal, faster and able to answer more questions. For society, the savior is called Garlic, but still remains very mysterious.

Will Garlic come to save OpenAI? This is what Altman hopes with this very mysterious project. For now, it’s hard to say if it’s an update or even ChatGPT-6. It could even be a new, even more specialized AI for use by Nano Banana for Gemini.

According to Mark Chen, director of research at OpenAI, Garlic already performs very well in coding and reasoning.

OpenAI reworked pretraining so that the model first learns generally before specializing, allowing smaller versions to have as much knowledge as larger models

All while being cheaper and easier to use for developers. We will have to wait until 2026 to see what this new model has in its belly.

What does 2026 have in store for us?

In 2026, we will see lots of new AI models launched by the giants. As we told you, on the OpenAI side, there is the Garlic coded model, expected to be the savior to compete Gemini 3.

Google is surely preparing Gemini 4 and new versions of Nano Banana to make its AI more powerful and multimodal. Already remarkable when it comes to managing images. Anthropic could release updates or specialized variants of Claudeadapted to businesses.
