Outlook Lite disappears: Microsoft drops millions of users

After three years of good and loyal service, Outlook Lite will be rebuilt. Microsoft has indeed just announced the imminent withdrawal of its application dedicated to Android, preventing any new installation of this reduced email client.

Requiem for Outlook Lite

Initially deployed in a few countries and installed on more than 10 million Android devices, the Outlook Lite app will be ousted from the Play Store from October 6, 2025. If Microsoft indicates that the new installations will be blocked from this date, the firm specifies that existing users can continue to use it, at least until its full withdrawal. After verification of DigitalOutlook Lite nevertheless already seems to be unavailable on the Play Store. In other words, Microsoft has already withdrawn the messaging client from the Android application shop.

Unify messaging customers

The Redmond firm strategy is to replace Outlook Lite with Mobile Outlook in order to save money, but also offer better features and a higher user experience.

Outlook Lite was for users of unsanishing smartphones. The app was weighed only 5 MB and could work on devices with only 1 GB of RAM. For those concerned, it will now be necessary to “do with it” and use a heavier and looking at material resources.
