Some batteries of Pixel 7a Rebiff: they swell, deform the device, and may present a safety risk. Faced with this, Google has launched a compensation program. In France, no direct replacement of the battery, but compensation in euros. If your phone shows the first signs of swelling, the priority is simple: Stop using it right away. We explain the steps to you.

Battery inflated on pixel 7a? Google offers compensation

If the back of your pixel 7a lifts, if the device takes a suspicious thickness or if your battery melts as snow in the sun, it is not a simple anomaly. It is a potential danger. Battery swelling, even if it remains rare, can cause overheating, or even a risk of fire.

Google, aware of this problem on certain pixel 7A, offers a solution: a refund up to around € 420, depending on the condition of your warranty. But in France, no need to wait for a repair in store: it will be either a transfer or a voucher. If this is the case, two options depending on the state of the warranty:

  • About 185 € (conversion of the amount announced of $ 200) if your device is no longer under warranty.
  • Around € 420 (from $ 456) if your device is still under warranty.

Otherwise, Google also offers a voucher of around € 275 on the Google Store. Once the compensation has been chosen, more going back as possible.

Three symptoms should alert you:

  • The phone seems thickened or curled.
  • The back of the device begins to detach itself, creating visible interstices.
  • The battery discharges abnormally quickly or no longer takes charge.
