A court decision decided Pornhub, Youporn and Redtube to come back online.

Since June 4, Pornhub, Youporn and Redtube were inaccessible in France. “Were” because the three pornographic sites held by the Aylo group have been back online since Friday, June 20. This two -week temporary break to protest against the obligation in the European Union to check the age of visitors may well come back later, but by then the legal battle is raging.

Pornographic sites: the debate around age verification is debated

At the beginning of June, the SREN law (security and regulation of the digital space) entered into force in the European space), forcing pornographic sites to set up methods of verifying the age of its visitors.

In France, Arcom has the right to suspend any site if it does not respect this directive, provided that it is hosted in France or outside the EU. To get around this and be able to act against sites accommodated with our neighbors, in February France published a decree against 17 pornographic sites, including the trio already quoted.

Except that last Monday, the Paris administrative court suspended this system, notably attacked by the Xhamster site. In the process, the Pornhub, Youporn and Redtube sites returned online, proudly displaying a message.

Blow of hard

This decree was deemed not always respecting European law. According to the media theInformedthe administrative court also revealed that the services of the Ministry of Culture were aware of the action carried out by Xhamster to attack its decree. But Rachida Dati, minister already embeded in many cases and at the heart of the very recent strike in public visual audio, would not have taken the trouble to defend their text.

The continuation of the next episode, but it is for the moment a serious setback for the government, which intends to appeal to cassation before the Council of State, and for the Arch. For the AYLO group, it is not up to the sites to set up these necessary age checks (because costly, in particular), however good at the GAFAM in charge of smartphones and user computers.
