Born at the end of the 19th century in Hiroshima in Japan, in a family of sake producers, Masataka Tatketsuru stayed in Scotland for professional reasons in 1918. He met his wife Rita and studies the whiskey for which he developed a real passion. So much so that he decides to devote his life to him. Back in his native Japan in 1920, he oversees the construction of a distillery for his employer. Pushed by his Scottish wife, he founded his own distillery (Yoichi) in 1934 on the island of Hokkaido, whose climate is close to that of Scotland. Nikka was born, Masataka Tatketsuru is now considered the father of Japanese whiskey, an exceptional spirits who was able to impose himself internationally in all lovers of whiskeys in the world. The Single Grain Coffey Grain whiskey is a real success, halfway between Bourbon and Scotch. He deploys a gourmet and pastry nose revealing notes of ripe pear, cherry, exotic fruits, citrus fruits, flowers, coconuts and fine touches of musk and mint. The juicy mouth develops fruity aromas going to the liquorice and the anise to finish on the pear, the bourbon vanilla and a light pleasant bitterness. Unmissable in any self-respecting spirits, whiskey is grain brandy elaborate from cereals (barley, oats, wheat, rye). Born in Anglo-Saxon countries, he is particularly popular with Scottish and Irish, who became specialists in his manufacture very early in history. Whiskey holds a special place in the universe of alcohols and spirits. Many countries have also launched in its development, including in Asian regions. Irish Whiskey, American bourbon, Japanese whiskey, all develop specificities giving them exceptional quality. The reference remains, however, Scottish whiskey and its famous regional variations: Lowlands, Highlands, Speyside, Campbeltown, Islands (including Jura, Arran) and Islay.
