Sony continues to pamper the PS5not with a routine patch, but with additions that speak as much to your eardrums as well as your gaming heart. This time, we pass a course: an audio system tailor-made to adapt each frequency to your desires, and an interface that brings the blessed era of the PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4. Between sound modernity and nostalgic wink, the update of this spring 2025 intends to make an impression.
The PS5 offers a sound and visual facelift that hits the bull’s eye

Sony was not content to add one more line to the settings menu. This update will look for where it matters: in sensations, those you feel when a game explodes to the ears or wakes up a Madeleine de Proust by lighting the console. First step: advanced audio setting. Here, we are not talking about a simple volume cursor, but a real overhaul of the sound experience. The idea? Let you shape sound according to your preferences, your playing style, or even the atmosphere you are looking for.
Four presets structure this personalization:
- Bass amplification,
- Amplification of treble,
- Amplification of voices (centered on average frequencies, those where dialogues reside, be it the replicas of an NPC or the stormy exchanges of the vocal cat)
- Amplification of weak sounds (a profile cut for those who track down the slightest whisper in the sound environment).

But Sony did not stop there. Each profile offers three levels of intensity: low, medium, or strong. And better still, you can independently adjust the amplification level on the left or right channel. What adapt to personal preferences, or even compensate for a slight hearing loss on one side. All accessible on the fly from the PS5 control center, without leaving your game session. No need to stop everything to hack in the menus.
And while your ears savor this new sound precision, your eyes are not outdone. With the return of themes inspired by the old PlayStation consoles, Sony plays on the sensitive rope. It is not just a layer of painting on the interface: each generation – PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 – arrives with its own visuals, its reworked icons, its distinct colors.
Accessible directly via [Paramètres] > [Système] > [Apparence] > [Apparence et son]everything is enhanced with animations and sounds which immediately plunge back into the time concerned. The discreet buzzing PS2 start -up, the rounded and vaporous ergonomics of the PS3, or the sharp blue of the PS4, everything has been redesigned to respect the DNA of each generation.
