Technical information
What frequency and hiking intensity?
We have classified our products in terms of performance and features to suit 3 levels of mountain hiking practice:
– Occasional: a dozen hikes per year of approximately 3 to 4 hours of duration, less than 10km and less than 700m of elevation.
– Regular: around twenty outings per year. 4 to 6 am, 10 to 20 km, 700 to 1200m of elevation by exit.
– Intensive: more than 20 outings per year. More than 6 hours, more than 20 km, 1200 to 2000m of elevation per exit.
Outdoor Contact sole
New highly efficient sole with our new exclusive rubber mixture developed by our experts. More adherent, more resistant. The drawing of the sole is designed for more hook thanks to 3D simulations and then tested in the laboratory to assess the adhesion coefficient on different surfaces and conditions. The mountain field tests allow us to make final validation with a panel of testers.
30 % rubber
Impermeability test
In the laboratory, the shoe is placed in the water up to mid-cap on a mechanical arm generating shoe flexions to simulate a number of steps. Thanks to this test we can determine a time and a number of km that the shoe can perform while remaining dry. Then we validate in the field and in the rain that the shoe keeps its promises in use.
Impermerse impermeability
To keep your feet dry, it is advisable to use a waterproof gaiter or mini-guest that will protect the top of the shoe from the water entrance, but also pebbles, sand …
We advise you to re-impertor your shoes 2 times a year using a waterproofing (search “” waterproofing “” on our Decathlon site) which will allow you to find the original tear lecture and to fight against external tasks.
Which size to choose?
Some Decathlon stores are teams of a test route.
1. Try both shoes, standing, with the socks used for hiking.
2. Tighten the laces, taking care to leave the tightening well.
3. Check two points:
– The heel does not take off before the shoe when you walk as a climb.
– The foot does not slip and the toes do not come up in front downhill.
4. Try several sizes and models.
Use them gradually to do them at your foot.
How to avoid bulbs?
The bulbs generally appear when our skin is weakened by friction. In order to limit their appearance, we advise you to:
– Choose a shoe to your size.
– Wear suitable socks
– Lace and tighten your shoes in a suitable way.
– Do not hesitate to readjust the tightening of your laces during practice, especially before starting a climb or a descent.
– Wear your shoes on a short output when first use.
What socks?
A waterproof shoe will be less breathable than a non-impermedable shoe. Socks like the MH500, MH520 and MH900 in medium stem are therefore to be favored to help evacuate perspiration and to limit heating.
Optimize the capacities of your shoes by replacing your interior soles
The original insole in your shoes aims to suit as many feet as possible. A change in insole can bring:
1. A better support: Some soles are preformed or reinforced to maintain the arch of the foot more.
2. More comfort: The soles can also bring heat and/or cushioning.
3. More lifespan: Find the maintenance and comfort of your shoes by replacing the insole each season.
How to maintain your shoes?
– Leave to dry in the air.
– Remove the dry mud with a fairly hard brush.
– for tasks clean with a brush and a little lukewarm water
– Leave to dry
– Spray a reprideling bomb to find a drain on the stem.
