Byd is no longer content to dominate the electric market in China: the manufacturer wants to redefine the recharge itself. Thanks to its new solid electrolyte battery, tested in the seal sedan, Byd promises more than 1,800 km of autonomy and a 12 -minute lightning recharge.
Byd electrifies the future with a solid lightning recharge battery
There are promises … And then there are Byd? While many are still at the PowerPoint slides or prototypes under a bell, the Chinese giant goes up a gear: its solid batteries are now tested in real conditions, integrated into the byd Seal, one of its flagship models.
The energy density reaches 400 WH/kg, which largely surpasses that of the current lithium-ion batteries.
The figure that runs the heads? A recharge of 0 to 80 % in just 12 minutes, equivalent to 1,500 km of autonomy according to the Chinese CLTC cycle – or almost 1,200 km in more realistic conditions. We therefore speak of an electric car capable of swallowing Paris-Madrid non-stop, then of chaining after a tight coffee. Technically, the energy density announced is 400 Wh/kg, almost double a classic lithium-ion battery. Not the most extreme on the market, but a strategic compromise to combine stability, security and serial production.
Calendar side, Byd provides preseware production from 2027with a large -scale commercial deployment in 2028. And if we believe analysts, the estimated additional cost of 25,000 yuan (around € 3,200) should fade by 2030, when byd aims for price parity with current batteries. In other words: the revolution could become accessible before it was even finished relying.
The prototype has successfully passed all the safety tests carried out in the laboratory, including those against thermal excitement.
In the background, global race for solid batteries is intensifying. ToyotaQuantumcape, Solid Power or Stellantis… All seek the magic formula. But Byd has a major asset: he already makes his own internal batteries, masters his sectors, and can therefore move forward quickly – very quickly. If its tests validate the performance announced, the technological advantage could be decisive. More than an innovation, it is an ultra-roded industrial strategy that comes into play.
