Samsung Galaxy Watch 4: The end seems close to the connected watch

While Samsung would have decided to ignore one UI 7 for its connected watches in order to go directly to one UI 8 and thus harmonize the experience with its smartphones, it could be that the Galaxy Watch 4 (and its Galaxy Watch 4 Classic version) is not concerned. The South Korean manufacturer has not yet revealed anything officially, but several clues strongly suggest that the connected tocante launched in 2021 lives its latest software moments.
The start of the end for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4?
First of all, a mention found in the beta version of One UI 8 indicates that the Galaxy Watch 4 will not take advantage of it, because it will be necessary to have a “Galaxy Watch 5 or higher” to be eligible.
Nothing proves that the final version will not still arrive on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, but this absence of beta is not necessarily very reassuring, also knowing that the Galaxy Watch 3 has not been updated since the end of 2023. The last update (safety) for the Galaxy Watch 4who dates from last May, was it the last?
The time to change connected watch?
This decision not to “refresh” the popular Galaxy Watch 4, however, is not surprising in the tech world, where the life cycles of products do not exceed a few years. With the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 soon to be sold, the manufacturer most likely seeks to reduce the number of its products to test one UI 8 more effectively, while encouraging its users to go to new models.
It remains to be hoped that security updates will always be offered for a few more years, but there again, nothing is less certain.
