For several years, the embedded systems of Google and Apple have reigned supreme on the screens of our vehicles. However, in the shadow of this domination, Samsung refines his ambitions: regain control of the mobile experience by car, based on an already well anchored know-how in its Galaxy ecosystem. A recent leak, relayed by several media, thus reveals the development of Auto Dex – an interface designed to integrate the driving mode directly into one UI, without going through the dominant standards.

Auto Dex: Samsung’s automotive interface to compete with Android Auto
Inspired by Dex mode already known on Galaxy devicesAuto Dex offers a simplified interface for the road, centered on navigation, call management, messages and music. All presented in a clear interface, with a full screen card, dynamic widgets (agenda, weather, audio shortcuts), and a side bar displaying essential elements: connectivity, battery, voice command via Bixby (and yes).
A capture shared by @galaxitechie shows what the interface could look like: full screen card, controlled controls at the bottom, and refined sidebar – a design that recalls both Android Auto and the classic Dex mode, while adopting the visual codes of One UI 8.

What distinguishes this approach is its promise of compatibility: Samsung would target more than 8,500 car models, with or without advanced on -board system. Concretely, the interface could be displayed on both an integrated screen and simply posing the smartphone on the dashboard. Flexibility that could attract many drivers, especially in emerging markets, or for older vehicles.
No official date has yet been communicated, but integration into One UI 8 suggests a near launch, perhaps alongside next Galaxy Z Fold and Flip. It also remains to be seen what will be the compatible smartphones, even if we suspect that ATTO Dex will be probably exclusive to smartphones of the South Korean giant.
