The next version of One UI, Samsung’s very popular mobile interface, is due to debut soon: it will likely adorn Android 16 in the series Galaxy S26, whose presentation is expected in January 2026. Not quite a major overhaul, but more than just a tweak, it will take the name One UI 8.5 and succeed One UI 8whose deployment has not been easy.

For the moment, we must rely on information leaks to get an idea of the new features that this update will contain. We already know that it will include new anti-theft options and a unwanted call filter. THE changelog (complete description of an update) of the beta version of One UI 8.5 is today relayed by the leaker Tarun Vatswho officiates on X and has made a specialty of indiscretions linked to the universe of the South Korean giant. This beta, to which ordinary mortals do not yet have access, is expected by mid-December 2025.

A taste of the first beta of One UI 8.5

THE changelog in question is full of new features and/or improvements to already existing functionalities. Among them, we find in particular the AI photo editor with simplified operation: it will allow you to modify images without saving each iteration, and to choose the most successful version among the different proposals selected.

The DeX office mode will also be given a facelift, since it will be able to remember the layout of the windows and restore it the next time it is opened.

We also note that Bixbystill used in parallel with Gemini, will be designed to better understand user requests in natural language, even if the keywords used do not exactly correspond to the smartphone settings; It is indeed necessary to remember that Bixby is mainly used to help the user navigate within the settings of their device, but can also act as a conversational assistant. THE changelog also mentions the addition of a possibility of consulting the history of exchanges with Bixby.

Let us cite a jumble of latest improvements to expect: with Quick Share, the possibility of limiting the reception of content to devices registered in the user’s Samsung or Google account; a more detailed Battery menu, combined with an improved Power Saving mode; finally, a lock screen automatically adapting the location of its widgets to the photo chosen by the user, so that the most important elements of the image are not hidden.

This changelog of One UI 8.5, to be considered with caution, remains that of a beta: Samsung will therefore be able to add or remove features to this list between now and the deployment of the interface.
