The admission is public, formulated without detour by a framework of Samsung. No obscure leak, no anonymous source: it is the manufacturer himself who begins the turn. In the future, certain advanced functions of Samsung Health could be reserved for paying subscribers.

After Galaxy Ai, it is therefore the other pillar of the ecosystem that is about to change status – from benevolent companion to drawing service. As with Fitbit, Garmin or Apple, health becomes a product, and each metric a monetitable service. How far will Samsung push the cursor? The question is no longer theoretical.

The days when a connected watch was bought for its full features seems to be coming to an end. Dr. Hon Pak, the boss of the Samsung digital health division, announced it bluntly: a Samsung Health subscription is seriously envisaged. Objective ? Offer “premium” services, comparable to Premium Fitbit or Garmin Connect Plus, launched last March.

We are considering a paid subscription to Samsung Health, in a format comparable to Fitbit Premium or Garmin Connect Plus.

Officially, no detail has filtered on the functions that would pass behind this new subscription wall. But the eyes are already turning to the news introduced with the one UI 8 Watch update: monitoring of vascular stress, sleep analysis with personalized recommendations, Antioxidants detection… So many tools which, tomorrow, could only be available for subscribers.

Even more worrying, if we believe the first rumors, only owners of future Galaxy watches would have access to it for free. The owners of older models? At the checkout. All against the backdrop of a global subscription strategy: Samsung had already indicated thatIts Galaxy AI suite would remain free until the end of 2025 – Before, unsurprisingly, to also become paying.

Samsung had however sworn in July 2024, during its Unpacked event, which the current functions of Samsung Health would remain free. Yes, but for “Future functions”,, “Different conditions may apply”. In other words: they had told us. We just didn’t want to hear.
