After a year 2024 under the sign of the mini-LED and the OLED for Sony, the manufacturer reinvested in QD-OLED technology on its high-end. We were able to see all the new TVs and bars of Japanese sound in Tokyo, here is a summary of what to wait in 2025.

As a reminder, the manufacturer has also announced its intention to embark on the Mini-Led RGB adventure, but it will be necessary to wait for the 2026 horizon to see this promising technology emerge.

Bravia 8 II: The new Sony QD-Oled flagship

Sony A95L appeared in the top of our comparison for a long time, but Sony had not renewed its QD-Oled model last year, granting priority to mini-LD technology with The excellent Bravia 9. However, the manufacturer did not abandon the QD-Oled and has just announced a Bravia 8 II responsible for succeeding the A95L.

Why Bravia 8 II? It's a bit complicated to follow, but the Bravia 8 first of the name is the medium -range OLED TV from Sony, which we had tested in 2024. However, Bravia 8 II does not really replace it, but is placed in the upper segment. Nothing completely logical, but you have the idea …

His QD-Oled slab promises an obviously infinite contrast of course, but above all an improved brightness peak in order to enhance HDR content. The Japanese thus announces a 50 % superior brightness in Bravia 8 and 25 % greater than that of the A95L. If these figures were proven, we should therefore enjoy a light peak of around 1600-1700 CD/m². A sympathetic value, but quite far from LG G5 And Samsung S95F that we have just tested and which reach 2300 and 2100 CD/m² respectively.

We therefore hope that the figures will be better than expected, otherwise the Bravia 8 II would be lagging behind compared to the competition on this point. That said, the Bravia 9 had reserved us a good surprise with a much more important luminous peak than announced. Case to follow, therefore.

The XR processor to improve the rendering

To support this QD-Oled slab, Sony is betting on its latest AI XR processor, capable of carefully analyzing each scene before optimizing each element (color, contrast, sharpness, etc.). Knowing that the fine tuning Slabs is generally a manufacturer's strength, we hope that this Bravia 8 II will take advantage of it.

The brand also highlights the presence of its XR Triluminos Max technology, which should grant extended colorimetric coverage. Quite logical since there has indeed been a leap forward since 2023 on the QD-Oled slabs of Samsung, supplier of Sony.

Google TV and a good audio system on the program

Bravia 8 II works under Google TV with its complete interface and many apps. Video game enthusiasts are not to be outdone: the TV supports 4K at 120 Hz, the VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) and the Allm (Auto Low Latency Mode). Unfortunately, it will still be necessary to deal with two HDMI 2.1 ports only this year, while most manufacturers have gone to four.

The Immersive Sound Sound system Acoustic Surface Audio+, springing directly from the screen, is always there and should benefit from a good audio experience.

It remains to be checked if this Bravia 8 II will be able to hold all its promises once passed on our test bench, but we will know more very soon!

Bravia 5 for giant mini-LED

Sony has been emphasizing the mini-LED since 2024 and does not forget this technology. Also presented in Japan, the Bravia 5 replaces the X90L of 2023 with six times more than Dimming zones. Its brightness and management of blooming should therefore be much better. This model will be placed just below the Bravia 7 tested last year And who had seduced us, despite a high price when it was released.

The Sony Bravia 5 will be available in versions 55, 65, 75, 85 and 98 inch.

Bravia 3 to complete the range

At the entry level, the Bravia 3 is positioned as the most affordable TV. It will then be necessary to make a cross on acoustic surface for sound, as well as on mini-LED technology, and be satisfied with a full led backlight. This model will be available from 43 to 85 inch to satisfy almost all requests and budgets.

To learn all about the bars of its announced by Sony, we advise you to read our dedicated article:

We still do not know the availability prices and dates of the various products, but we can expect a marketing by the beginning of the summer if the calendar of this year imitates that of 2024. We are waiting for the Bravia 8 II impatiently to see if he can brilliantly resume the crown of the A95L.
