Spotify increases (again) its prices: what will change for you

Like many streaming services, Spotify has just increased its prices in France again. This increase comes after similar operations in 2023 and 2024. The firm indicates its new prices on its official website, and has started to inform users by email. From the billing date in July, let’s see what the subscribers will have to pay.

A severe increase in all Spotify subscriptions

All packages, personal, duo, students and family, are concerned. But some more than others.

• The personal subscription goes from € 11.12 per month to € 12.14 per month (+9.17%)
• The duo subscription goes from € 15.17 per month to € 17.20 per month (+13.38%)
• The student subscription goes from € 6.06 per month to € 7.07 per month (+16.67%)
• The family subscription goes from € 18.21 per month to € 21.24 per month (+16.64 %)

Thus, the increase mainly affects the family formula, which passes the symbolic bar of 20 € with a severe climb of three euros. Recall that during the distant year 2022, the personal subscription was under the € 10, the student under the € 5, the duo under the € 14 and the family under the € 16.

To justify this new increase, Spotify, which has just passed the bar of 100 million paid subscribers in Europe, remains without surprise: “To be able to continue to innovate in our product offers and our features, and to offer you the best experience.»

We will note that the function Hifi expected for years is still not there (and that it will probably cost more), while the service is one of those who pay the artists the least at each listening. In its latest report, the firm indicates, however, that European artists earned 1.7 billion euros in royalties on Spotify in 2024, an increase of 15 %.

The opportunity may be ideal for Spotify subscribers to go and see elsewhere, especially since some competitors, such as Deezer or more recently Apple Musicsimplify the transition of playlists from one service to another.
