Stranger Things: who will die in season 5? Here are our predictions

Since the release of the trailer for season 5 of Stranger Thingsfans of the series are worried about the fate reserved for their favorite characters in the final episodes of the show Netflix. Will Mike, Will, Steve and company survive their fight against Vecna?

Nothing is less certain then at The Digitalswe wondered what the chances were that everyone would make it out in one piece.

Which character will die in season 5 of Stranger Things ?

Category “Everything will be fine”

As the entire Fellowship of the Ring was not completely decimated by the end of the Lord of the Ringswe don’t expect the whole gang of Stranger Things pass the weapon to the left at the end of the series.

The idea of seeing, for example, Eleven and Hopper die in this last season seems improbable. The two characters have in fact already offered to sacrifice themselves to save their friends, and if they have stood up to death until then, it is not to do the same thing again at the end of the race.

Probability of survival for Eleven: 90%
Probability of survival for Hopper: 80%

For their part, Lucas, Erica, Robin, Dustin and Karen should get through it without difficulty. Some are “fan favorites”, like Dustin and Erica, who we don’t see the series sacrificing.

The others have more secondary roles which means that their deaths would not have quite the same emotional and narrative weight as those of characters who take more risks.

Probability of survival for Karen: 75%

Of these five, it is perhaps Lucas who could find himself in danger in the effort to protect Max.

Category “It could go wrong”

Max finished season 4 of Stranger Things in a coma, and if we assume that she will eventually wake up in the last episodes of the series, it would not be surprising if this is not to have a very good time facing Vecna. We can even imagine that the latter could want to use her in this final season. That being said, Max has already had a hard time so far so if she could come out of this unscathed, that would be great for her.

The same goes for Nancy, who Vecna used as a messenger in season 4 of Stranger Things. She could well be his pawn again but the series has invested so much time in the idea that Nancy is far from the cliché of the damsel in distress that we more expect to see her kill Demogorgon than to die tragically. Overall, it is still possible that we lose a member of the Wheeler or Byers families in season 5.

Probability of survival for Nancy and Max: 60%

In season 4, Joyce went to Hopper’s rescue while Mike and Jonathan were on a road trip looking for Eleven.

Everyone will undoubtedly put themselves in danger to protect others in season 5, whether it is Joyce with Will, Jonathan towards the latter or Nancy, or even Mike with his little sister, Holly. So they may not get away with it smoothly, but it would be surprising to see them die.

Finally, Murray is a character who could easily die in Stranger Thingsin an act of bravery for example, but his death would have more impact on fans of the series than on the protagonists, who are not all particularly attached to him.

On the other hand, Will and Steve are two characters that the series could eliminate by affecting the spectators as strongly as the characters of the show.

The series began with Will’s disappearance and it could easily end with his death. We know that this season 5 will deepen the link between Will and the Upside Down by explaining why he survived during his first visit to this parallel dimension. There is therefore no doubt that Vecna will use Will in this final season and if the young boy comes out alive, it will be an achievement.

In the same way, Stranger Things spent a lot of time, especially in season 4, highlighting the fact that Steve Harrington’s future prospects are limited. The young man has been a little lost since he left high school, unable to invest in a new romantic relationship since Nancy left him and not really knowing what to do with his life.

As a result, he has taken on the role of protector towards the youngest characters in the show and if he sacrifices himself for their survival, we will be very sad, but not surprised.
